Between Dogs and Wolves: Growing Up in South Africa is a photographic publication by Jodi Bieber, spanning a ten-year period beginning in 1994, following South Africa’s first democratic elections.

The book focuses on youth navigating life on the margins of society, particularly in Johannesburg. Bieber’s work moves between intimate portraiture and documentary observation, capturing moments shaped by identity, vulnerability and resilience.
