CHROMA
Contemporary Perspectives
in African Photography
EDWIN MAINA · SANJO LAWAL · ED SUTER
OPENING WEDNESDAY 4 NOVEMBER 2026
01 / THE EXHIBITION
Three artists.
Three visions.
One exhibition.
CHROMA brings together Edwin Maina (Kenya), Sanjo Lawal (Nigeria) and Ed Suter (South Africa) in an exhibition celebrating distinct approaches to contemporary African photography.
At the centre of CHROMA is the human figure. Through colour, composition and constructed portraiture, each photographer explores identity, culture and self-expression in a visual language entirely their own.
Rather than presenting a single perspective, the exhibition brings three independent practices into conversation, reflecting the diversity and evolving possibilities of image-making across the continent.
02 / THE PHOTOGRAPHERS
Meet the artists.
Three practices connected by a fascination with colour, portraiture and the ways we present ourselves to the world.

Ed Suter
CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICASuter’s photographs are animated by colour, style and individuality, drawing on the rich visual energy of South African culture.
